Piece of my Heart

Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
 Ephesians 5:20

This is the beautiful puzzle I bought for Ivy!
This fundraiser will consist of "selling" each piece of the puzzle. They will be $5 a piece and there are 300 pieces.  We will write the buyer's name/family name on the back of each piece bought.
After the puzzle is completed, we will have it hung in a double-sided frame.  When Ivy is old enough to understand, we will flip the frame so that she can see all the people that helped bring our family together.  She will be able to see the many, many people that helped our life story finally connect.  God willing, this fundriaser has the potential to raise $1500 towards our adoption.  We will be putting the puzzle together as we get donations.  I will post updates of our progress on the puzzle.

Say Yes

This adoption has taught me to

Say, Yes to being uncomfortable
Say, Yes to having our life not make sense to the world
Say, Yes to more than we could have ever imagined for ourselves

"The truth is that the 143 million orphaned children and 11 million who starve to death or die from preventable diseases and the 8.5 million who work as child slaves, prostitutes, or under horrific conditions and the 2.3 million who live with HIV add up to 164.8 million needy children.  And though at first glance that looks like a big number, 2.1 billion people on this earth proclaim to be Christians.  The truth is that if only 8 percent of the Christians would care for one more child, there would not be any statistics left."

Lemonade Stand

Today was the St. Luke's Day school Lemonade stand and the graduating 4 year old classes donated all their profits toward our adoption.  CBS news came out to interview the school's director and myself about the stand.  The footage will be aired tomorrow on the CBS morning show.  The kids seemed to have had a really good time.  We feel so blessed to have our boys go to a school that is so supportive of our adoption of Ivy.

Today was also the last day of school for the summer.  I made the boy's classes these watermelon cake pops and they were a hit.

Sweet Girl

I have so much on my mind and heart lately.  I've been reading as much as I can to learn about adoption, China, and God's heart for orphans.  Brandon and I truly want to share this journey with others.  Our hearts, minds, and perspectives are being radically rearranged by God through this process.

Deuteronomy 24: 17-22: True justice must be given to foreigners living among you and to orphans, and you must never accept a widow's garmet in pledge of her debt.  Always remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God redeemed you.  That is why I have given you this command.  "When you are havesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don't go back to get it.  Leave it for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.  This also applies to the grapes in your vineyard. Do not glean the vines after they are picked, but leave any remaining grapes for the foreigners, orphans, and widows.  Remember that you were the land of Egypt.  That is why I am giving you this command."

Dear Ivy,
Your mommy misses you so much right now.  I know that sounds strange because we haven't met yet.  But for some reason I have been missing you more and more.  There is a hole in our sweet family that I know only you can fill.  My heart aches for you sweet girl.  I wonder what is happening in your little life this week.  Have you been born?  Was this the week your mother had to make a terribly difficult decision?  Are you sick?  Someday soon I will hold you so tight. Tonight I will be dreaming of you, imagining the first time that you will sit at our dinner table.  We love you so much precious little girl.  Your brothers talk about you everyday and can't wait for you to come home.

Love Always,
Mommy
